If you told me one of the best pizzas I’d have in Tokyo would rival anything in Europe, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. But then I visited Pizza Studio Tamaki (PST)—and yes, it lived up to the hype.  This was 2018!  Eight years later, Tokyo’s pizza scene has exploded, with countless spots rivaling some of the best pizzerias in the world—yet PST is still my favorite in the city.

Tucked away in the Azuba neighborhood of Tokyo, PST has built a reputation as one of the top pizza spots in the city, and it’s easy to see why.

It's known for serving high-level Neapolitan-style pizza with careful technique, quality ingredients, and a real focus on the dough. That is a big part of why so many people see it as one of the top pizza spots in the city. In a place better known around the world for sushi, ramen, and tempura, PST stands out by doing pizza seriously well.

My Experience at PST Pizza

The vibe is relaxed but focused—nothing overly fancy, just a clean, modern space where the attention is clearly on the food. You can tell people are there for one reason: really good pizza.

I remember watching pizzas come out of the oven one after another, each with that perfect char on the crust. It already smelled amazing before I even took a bite.

We always end up ordering the same pizzas.  Margherita & Cheese only with egg.  Both are outstanding.  The dough is light - You can easily eat more than you think without feeling heavy, which is probably why sharing a few pizzas is the way to go.

The Overall Experience

What I like most about PST is that nothing feels overdone. Sometimes top-rated restaurants can be a little too serious. PST did not have that problem. It's casual to enjoy, but every part of the meal still felt thoughtful.

My quick take:

  • Ambiance: Relaxed, lively, and comfortable
  • Service: Warm, efficient, and polished
  • Food: Excellent pizza with real attention to detail
  • Overall vibe: A place worth making time for if you love pizza

Final Thoughts

Pizza Studio Tamaki (PST) is one of those places that quietly exceeds expectations. No gimmicks, no over-the-top presentation—just seriously good pizza done right.  If you’re in Tokyo and want a break from sushi or ramen, this is the spot. And honestly, even if you don’t, it’s still worth going.

FYI - Reservations are highly recommended.
