There’s something about Williamsburg Brookklyn that just feels effortlessly cool—maybe it’s the mix of old-school Brooklyn grit, which I loved and miss and the polished new spots, or maybe it’s just the excuse to walk across the Williamsburg Bridge and earn your dinner.

Does Misi live up to the hype?

Misi has that minimalist, airy vibe—lots of light, simple design—but it still feels warm and lively. Not stuffy, not overly trendy. Just the kind of place where you can settle in, order a few things to share, and forget about the outside world for a bit.

Yes it's become an extremely hard reservation to get but it's worth trying.

Let’s talk about the food, because that’s really why you go.

I’ve been to Misi a handful of times over the years, and it’s always been consistently good. It’s not the absolute best pasta I’ve ever had—but that’s kind of the point. There’s no over-the-top presentation or unnecessary extras here. Just really solid, homemade pasta that keeps things simple and delivers every time. It’s straightforward, no-frills cooking that just hits the spot.

Everything is fresh and thoughtfully prepared.

If you go my advise is to order pastas to share - and don't forget the veggies.  My overall favorites

  • Fettuccine with buffalo butter and parmigiano
  • Spinach and mascarpone tortelli with brown butter
  • Occhi (little oval-shaped pasta) filled with sheeps' milk

Overall, Misi feels like one of those places that’s both relaxed and refined. It’s not trying too hard, but everything on the table proves they know exactly what they’re doing. The neighborhood around it may have changed over the years—new spots popping up, the vibe constantly evolving—but somehow the pasta here still tastes just as good every time. It’s that kind of consistency that keeps you coming back.
